Day 2

Shimla to Sunder Nagar Lake + Rewalsor Lake + Monastary stay at Mandi

Descriptions:

Sundernagar is also spelt as Sundarnagar and Sunder nagar located in Mandi District. It used to be the Capital of Suket State and is hardly 22-24 km from Mandi (South-west of mandi) towards Shimla. The waters of Beas-SutlejProject have given it a man-made lake. Thetemple of Mahamaya and Sukhdev Vatika on the nearby hill are other attractions. The beautiful town of Sundernagar is known for its shady walks amidst towering trees.

Rewalsar lake is shaped like a square with the shoreline of about 735 m. It is held as a sacred spot for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists alike. There are three Buddhist monasteries at Riwalsar. The lake also has three Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva and to the sage Lomas. Another holy lake, Kunt Bhyog which is about 1,750 m above sea level lies above Rewalsar.It is associated with the escape of ‘Pandavas’ from the burning palace of wax—an episode from the epic Mahabharata.

Mandi to Prashar Lake + Manikaran

Prasher Lake is surrounded by the Dhauladhar ranges in Kullu Valley. The local temple of Prashar Rishi next to the lake, with its riveting Himachali architecture, blends perfectly with the landscape.
